Key differences
Upside is card-linked. You claim an offer, then pay at that location within 4 hours (gas and restaurants) or 24 hours (grocery) with a credit or debit card saved in the app, and Upside matches the transaction; paying by Apple, Google or Samsung Pay needs a receipt upload. Fetch is receipt-based: any eligible paper receipt snapped within 14 days earns at least 25 points, and linked email or retailer accounts add e-receipts.
Upside pays cash. From $1.01 you can move your balance to a bank account (a $1 fee under $10, free at $10 or more), or take a gift card, usually from $10. PayPal was removed from all Upside accounts on August 14, 2026. Fetch pays no cash: gift cards, Visa or Mastercard reward cards, donations or sweepstakes, most from 3,000 points, with no published dollar value per point.
Both have an inactivity rule. Upside's terms say cash back expires after six months in a row with nothing earned or redeemed, although its help center says cash back never expires while the account is in good standing. Fetch points all expire after 90 days without earning or redeeming.

Which should you use?
Pick Upside if
- You fill up regularly at stations near you that show Upside offers, and pay by card.
- You are willing to open the app and claim an offer before every purchase.
- You want small cash-outs to a bank account: $1.01 is the minimum, and $10 or more is free.
Pick Fetch if
- You will snap most of your receipts within 14 days, from any kind of store.
- You are fine redeeming for gift cards or reward cards instead of cash.
- You use the app at least every few weeks, so the 90-day expiry rule does not bite.
Upside vs Fetch: FAQ
Can I use Upside and Fetch on the same purchase?
Each app has its own rules. Upside matches the purchase to the card saved in its app, and Fetch rewards a snapped eligible receipt. Upside says purchases already credited by GasBuddy or Checkout 51 earn nothing from Upside; it does not list Fetch. Check each app's terms for the purchase type.

Upside. Its balance is in US dollars and goes to a bank account from $1.01, with a $1 fee under $10. Fetch pays in gift cards, reward cards, donations or sweepstakes entries.
Does Upside work on gas only?
No. It also has offers at grocery stores, convenience stores and restaurants, and gas offers pay cents per gallon. Offers depend on participating locations near you.
