Which Yield to Read
30-day SEC yield is the standard yield for comparing funds. It takes the interest the fund earned over the last 30 days, subtracts expenses and annualizes the result. It looks backward and moves as T-bills roll over, so it is the best guide to what you would earn next month if rates hold.
12-month trailing yield is what the fund paid over the past year as a share of price. It is higher than the SEC yield here, which means the fund paid more a year ago than it earns now. It describes the past, not the next year.
SGOV is an ETF, not a money market fund. It has no 7-day yield and no $1 share price. The price floats near $100, and you buy and sell through a broker. Our SGOV review covers state-tax treatment, trading and who it fits.
SGOV vs the 3-Month Treasury Bill
The Treasury's par yield curve showed a 3-month bill at 4.21% on November 4, 2026 (U.S. Treasury, Daily Treasury Par Yield Curve Rates). The two numbers are not the same measure: the curve figure is a bond-equivalent yield for one maturity on one day, and the SEC yield is a 30-day, after-expense average across a basket of bills. Do not subtract one from the other and call it the fund's cost. See Treasury bill rates for the full bill table.
