Ohio Paycheck Calculator
Take-home pay in Ohio for 2026: state income tax, federal income tax from the 2026 IRS tables, Social Security and Medicare, for salary or hourly pay.
Taxes on a Ohio paycheck
Ohio withholds 1.6% to 3.4% of wages after $650 per exemption, under the formula in effect from August 1, 2026. Most Ohio cities and 214 school districts add their own income tax: pick your school district and enter your city rate in the calculator. Your paycheck also has federal income tax, withheld with the 2026 IRS tables and your Form W-4, plus Social Security and Medicare.
How Ohio withholding is figured
- Your employer annualizes your wages, subtracts $650 for each exemption on Form IT 4 (you, your spouse unless claimed separately, and each dependent), and withholds 1.6% of the first $26,050, 2.99% up to $100,000 and 3.4% above, divided by your number of paychecks.
- These are withholding rates, not tax rates: Ohio taxes no income up to $26,050 on the return, so many workers get part of the withholding back.
Take-home pay in Ohio by salary
Paid every two weeks, 2026 W-4 with no adjustments, no pre-tax deductions:
| Salary | Gross per paycheck | Take-home, single | Take-home, married filing jointly |
|---|---|---|---|
| $30,000 | $1,153.85 | $991.14 | $1,046.50 |
| $40,000 | $1,538.46 | $1,288.67 | $1,360.19 |
| $50,000 | $1,923.08 | $1,586.21 | $1,665.42 |
| $60,000 | $2,307.69 | $1,883.75 | $1,968.34 |
| $75,000 | $2,884.62 | $2,297.37 | $2,414.65 |
| $100,000 | $3,846.15 | $2,945.06 | $3,158.50 |
| $125,000 | $4,807.69 | $3,586.45 | $3,898.61 |
| $150,000 | $5,769.23 | $4,210.97 | $4,573.13 |
| $200,000 | $7,692.31 | $5,496.97 | $5,897.59 |
Married filing jointly assumes one earner (W-4 Step 2 box not checked). The tables do not include city or school district taxes. School district income tax (all 214 districts for 2026) is withheld at the district rate on your federal wages, less $650 a year per exemption in traditional-base districts and with no exemptions in earned-income-only districts. Ohio does not publish a current statewide list of city rates, so enter your city's rate; a local rate you enter is applied to your pay before 401(k) contributions and after pre-tax health insurance (Medicare wages), the base most local wage taxes use; if you put a lot into a 401(k), check how your employer handles it.
Hourly pay after taxes in Ohio
40 hours a week, paid weekly, single filer:
| Hourly wage | Gross per week | Take-home per week | Take-home per year |
|---|---|---|---|
| $15.00 | $600.00 | $513.42 | $26,698 |
| $20.00 | $800.00 | $668.14 | $34,743 |
| $25.00 | $1,000.00 | $822.86 | $42,789 |
| $30.00 | $1,200.00 | $977.58 | $50,834 |
Working overtime? Choose "Hourly" in the calculator and add your overtime hours: the 2026 W-4 lets you count the extra half of time-and-a-half as a deduction, which lowers federal withholding.
