Taxes on a Oregon paycheck

Oregon taxes wages at 4.75% to 9.9%. Employees also pay the 0.1% statewide transit tax and 0.6% for Paid Leave Oregon. Your paycheck also has federal income tax, withheld with the 2026 IRS tables and your Form W-4, plus Social Security and Medicare.

How Oregon withholding is figured

  • Oregon's formula starts from your yearly wages, subtracts the federal income tax withheld (up to $8,750, less for single filers over $125,000 or married over $250,000, nothing at $145,000 / $290,000) and a standard deduction of $2,910 ($5,820 married, or single with 3 or more allowances).
  • Rates run from 4.75% to 9.9%. Each allowance on Form OR-W-4 then cuts the yearly withholding by $263, but no allowances count above $100,000 of wages single or $200,000 married.
  • The statewide transit tax is 0.1% of the same wages. Paid Leave Oregon is 1% of wages up to $184,500, of which employees pay 60% (0.6%); pre-tax health insurance through a cafeteria plan is not counted.
